    Deer Load Ladder Test

Since I got a locking bolt fitter properly, I decided to develop a cast bullet deer hunting load.

I think it shoots about 2.25" and I just have to make sure of my parallax. I thought it was set for 100 yards, but when I was shooting the group I noticed the target moving with my eye. :/

    This will have to do.

    Any problem with chiggers?
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.

I'm more worried about the bees and ticks... but I'm not too worried about them either.

Oh yeah! I got a 10 point last year with a Speer 200gr HP, this should be a bit better at penetration!
    Thank you!

This load was a bit slower than I thought, (1518fps,) but I still think it will do well enough.

yep it will. i've used my 444 (tc encore with 23" MGM barrel) in 250gr penta hp, 255gr Kieth, 275gr ranch dog, 280gr wfn gc, 280gr lfn gc and 300gr fn gc going about 1600-1800fps (i don't like recoil) and the deer didn't have a problem with that. right now, it is a 300gr fn gc with 24.0gr of 2400/tuft of dacron going 1624fps. i have killed 3 deer with it. 2 doe were about 25-30 yards away and they dropped right there. one buck was 63 yards(laser range finder thingy) away and he ran about 20+/- yards before he died. every shot was a double lunger and the buck left a blood trail that a blind man could follow.

how far do you plan on shooting? 100 yards is considered a long shot in the area i hunt. 50 yards and less is the usual.

Nope, I see no difference when doing that.

No, in Ohio they are tiny and kind of rare.

I have shot from 220 to 50 with this rifle when it didn't shoot well, but I'll probably limit myself to 150 with this load, since it is going 200fps slower than my usual 240gr load.

    Thanks!

Good to see you on here! I always enjoy your videos. Good shooting. Practical boolits everyone can get a mold for. Great work!
