We'd drop the mussel meat into the river. One day we were doing this and a crawdad came out and was eating all they could grab.

Suddenly, BOOM and there were just Crawdad pieces in the water, and not much of them; A Rainbow Trout had decided that Crawdad sounded GOOD for lunch!

    Pretty aggressive

I need to get back to fishing, you folks have it great there, sounds like!
I like that story/memory of yours, thanks for sharing!

True that! We were scheduled to get down closer to you yesterday and today but had to cancel. I wanted to fish Deadmans Basin(never been) see if there is a tiger musky left in it? FWP shows it was stocked with tiger musky in 2010, then state record caught in 2012, no mention any more of them?

I went out by myself early Saturday morning, took a few hours but caught my limit of 5, all around 18 inches and females. I filleted each as soon as caught, put in an ice bag with ice on the fillets then in the cooler, gets up to 90 and they don't survive in the live wells.

I go down the road here a few miles to a spot on the side of the road and catch trout mostly rainbows and a few bull trout though they bite better after sundown. Biggest ive caught so far was about 20 inches though i have seen some big bulls in there up at the dam that looked close to 3.5 ft long. Had one break 25 lb line like it was a piece of sewing thread up there. Ive always found the kootenai hard to fish unlike most streams. The salmon up at the koocanusa is pretty easy to hook. And i can catch pike down on bull lake
Those who would trade freedom for safety deserves neither and will lose both
