    Krag CB accuracy load

What’s your Krag accuracy load for 100/200 yd shooting? I’d like to hear it.
Bullet, powder, charge, lube, group size and/or anything else you’d like to share about target shooting/matches with a Krag.

I'm watching this, too. I haven't finished my Krag, and I only used jacketed in my previous Siamese Mauser and 98 Springfield 30-40s. Hey, I was young then.

Currently, my only Krag is an 1898 carbine, probably sporterized in the early 1920s...at least, according to Lyman, the sights were mfg'd between 1919 and 1923. My 'go-to' is the 200 gr Lee, PC'd and sized to .311, over 35.0 gr H4350 with just a dab of dacron filler. Load produces right at 1850 fps and prints (iron sights) under 6" @ 200 yds. and, with a little sight adjustment, will consistently ring a 12" steel plate @ 300.

In both my Krags, a 1898, and a 1899 carbine, both like 18 gr. 4759, ( I have lots of it ), with the Lyman 311291 bullet sized to .311. Velocity of 1500-1550 fps. I use the Lee 303 Brit collet neck sizer. Lee does not offer one for the 30-40, and the 303 Brit one works fine. Brass lasts forever using this.
