    First go at powder coating.

So I decided to try out powder coating for the first time and holy s***! I love this stuff!
Bought a lb of mirror black from powder buy the pound and swirled it around in a little plastic container. Stood them up on a piece of aluminum foil on a cookie sheet and piped em in the oven. 12 min later I had some REALLY nice looking boolits. ( round 2 I used parchment paper and it works 1000x better than foil) GCed them and threw them over some lil gun In a 300 blk. Havnt shot them yet but wow they look great!

Very Nice! Good work! How did the smash test turn out?

Nice! I just started PC as well. Really surprised at how easy it is.

Once you switch to silicon baking sheets you will like it even more. They are cheap and last.

Excellent! Those look really nice. I think you'll find PCing your bullets is much easier and cleaner than wax or alox based lubes. Just a question based on your OP, are you using your kitchen oven? If so, that's a really bad idea as the plastic powder coating fumes can leave residues in your oven may off gas later and contaminate your food.

Yes the passed the ol’ whack em with a mallet test with flying colors.
No I’ve got an extra full size convection oven in the garage I use for cerakoting.

Excellent job on your first try. 30 cal boolits aren't the easiest to stand up and get the tray to the oven without some falling over.

Please read the manufacturers instructions on baking

    https://www.powderbuythepound.com/su...wet-black.html
    • Cure Schedule = 400f/10 Min at Part Metal Temperature

This means putting the PC'd boolits in an oven preheated to 400°, bake until the part/boolit reaches 400° then set the timer and bake for 10 more minutes.

Yes, shorter bake times will pass the smash test BUT they are not fully cured and may adversely react to/affect smokeless powder.

    Check list:
    Cast boolits ✔️
Coated boolits passing smash test ✔️
Sized and gas checked boolits ✔️
    Loaded boolits ✔️
    Ragne report

I guess the only thing we’re missing is the range report. I look forward to seeing your targets shot with them purty boolits!
