    Nicely done Wayne!

    I devised a system for the three groove Springfield rifles. V block, surface plate, depth mic and a set of plug gauges. Exchange the barrel slug with the plug gauges of about the same size until slug and gauge read the same down to the plate. 100% accurate to the limit of the mic. and operator.
    One picture is worth a thousand words - I just don't have one now.

    Your comprehensive writing gives me a lot of ideas for measuring other than the three groove barrels.
    Again, Well done! I really enjoyed reading about the other methods I did not know about. Especially the three rod method.
