Uberti Burgess Rifle - Opinions from personal experience needed .

Got the itch , got the money but haven't had my hands on one . I am interested in one in 44-40 and probably the 25" . Anybody have any hands on experience with these ? My use will be woods walking and some deer hunting in thick stuff .

Got the 20” carbine in 45 colt. I just shot a clean cowboy action match with it. The furthest I take it apart to clean is taking the buttstock off to spray cleaner in the action. It is not a easy gun to take apart like a Marlin 1894. That about my only negative. 90% of my loads are starting loads with a 200 grain bullet for cowboy action. I have fired a 250 grain with 9 grains unique and it shoots accurately to 100 yards and even 200 yards on a steel plate with the carbine ladder sight extended. I like my gun.

Also have a 20” carbine in 45 colt , haven’t shot it lots but my first impressions are that it is accurate and fast.

I have hunted deer with a Marlin 1894 and Win 94 with both a 20” barrel. I would think a 20” barrel may be more handy for you unless your in a stand. With 45 colt, I am getting good accuracy and little leading if any with .454 diameter bullets and nothing else special in loading 45 colt. You may have to do more load developement with 44-40 but that can be fun too.

I am not for sure on my gun as I got it used. It was imported by Taylor’s. It’s a dark reddish wood. Wood to metal cut is about perfect.

Anybody got a pic? Can’t find one on the Uberti website.

From my past owning a gun shop at the cost for a replica I would keep looking for an original at the big auctions. Just my thought.
