A friend of mine found these on a piece of property that he recently purchased.
The top one I do not recognize.
The next one is some sort of Mauser or derivative.
Next is some sort of Winchester.
Then there is a barrel, might be a shotgun, due to length. Although, it may have a rear sight near the forearm lug.
I have not actually seen anything other than this picture and he has no clue about firearms.

He lives at a distance, so it will be a while until I get to see them in person.

Is that mud or rust? Where did they come from? Hole in the ground?

A combination of all of the above. Thew were in amoungst a bunch of other scrap metal covered in brush and leaf/vegetation debris.

    Odd find for sure.

Can't see any better than you. Question is, "are they a stash of stolen goods?", or a forgotten dooms day stash. Probably all rebuildable actions, scopes too maybe. Might want to have popo run a numers check on them, could maybe save a huge hassle down the road. Did the stocks rot off?

Yes, the numbers will be run.

Hard to speculate how they ended up there. They are just another tool, as much as you and I love and cherish them, and we all know what some people do to tools.

My speculation on the stocks, is that they were removed before "storage". Notice the trigger plates are missing, but the screws are still there.

Basically the reason for this post was to try to post a picture from my phone for another post that I want to make. But I thought it might be fun to learn what the top action was.

The unique safety should be enough for someone to ID the action is my thought.

"a pile of scrape" - I can believe that, some people are very anti gun, regardless of resale value.

Left to right- Savge m94 shotgun barrel, m70 Winchester with Leupold scope, m98 Mauser, another m70 Winchester. A damn shame is what it is.

Thank you Texas by God. Now that you have identified the right side rifle as a M70, I can see the similarity to the other Winchester.

Looking forward to meeting up with my friend and getting to paw these things. When that happens, I will close the loop on this inquiry. I will not be real soon though.

I wonder if they may have been the victims of a house fire and ended up in a scrap pile. Wouldn't seem like the scopes would have survived the heat, but maybe just got water damaged and thrown out .

My bud was sure surprised to find them.

If they went through a fire, they may have been paid for by insurance and listed as destroyed. The serial number search may turn up something.

The shotgun barrel is a Savage or Stevens, model 94 or 220.

I would guess that they died in a fire.

Could be stolen guns that were cached and the cache person could not get back to retrieve them or the long arm of the law caught up with him after he cached them. Just a thought, james

That has all the ear markes of some one who Did not want Guns in the home . took them apart dumped the metal There and dumped the wood some where else. So none could be used. doubt is they were stolen. A thief takes to sell not to Dump.
