A bit over 2 weeks ago my Cindy went back in for surgery.
In the OR for 5 hours. In total, 64 staples. They fused 3 joints with screws. L1-l2, one above that, and one below.
She spent 5 days in the hospital and came home.
No major problems until this last tuesday.
I came in to check on her mid afternoon to find her teeth chattering, running a 102 fever, and her head was in cloud cuckoo land. Very few straight answers.
Turned off the AC, made her a hot tea with sugar and honey. Left her sleeping.
Went and talked to St Peggy. She suggested I call our daughter. (my step-daughter)
She is an LPN, took one look and called a non emergancy ambulance.
She had a raging urinary tract infection. One of the screws they put in her back was badly infected.
Fever comes and goes, they have her on iv antibiotics.
The problem is she is not snapping out of it. She told my daughter she saw a bobcat in the corner of her hospital room.
And she was convinced the nurses were all angry with her.
If I had not got her back to the hospital I think I would have lost her.
Surgeon pulled the staples for the bad screw, opened it up, cleaned it out, put in a drain and closed it back up.
Obviously I am worried.
We did not say anything about the big surgery. Cindy asked me not to, I think she felt like she had used up all the grace she had coming.
Doctors are saying when she is released she needs to go to a rehab facility as they want to keep her on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks.
So I am looking forward at almost 2 months without my rock.
This is going to be hard.
And frankly I am afraid there is more going on that they are not finding.
The last 2 days she has had no control of her bowels and bad diarrhea, no appetite, and vomiting.
All prayers very much appreciated.
