    45-70 MK1 ammunition

Looks like someone resized these and reloaded them? Any guess as to what bottle neck cartridge this is?
    I think original 45-70 MK1 was a straight case without a projectile?
They are too long for a 45-75.

Why is the case length of the reloads and the bullet diameters?
    Regards

    Thanks all!
After pulling some dimensions it is indeed a 38/56!

Back when I wore a uniform back in the mid 60's. The deck crew used single shot line throwing shotguns to shoot a line from one ship to another. They were basically smooth bored with no choke. And the 45/70 MKI was probably an earlier line throwing blank. The newer ones usually have a M32 designation on the head of the case. Frank
