    Locating a small ring mauser

I think sarco used to sell them, but where would a fellow locate one?
I think I'd to build one up in 30-30 like TBG!

Old western scrounger has parts kits, they are missing bits like a firing pin or extractors and are a bit rough.

I'd like to find a complete one, and don't want to have to search for to many parts. Boy the pawnshops used to be full of these, where'd they all go?

Try Simpson's LTD. They have all the parts you need along with complete Swedish Mauser rifles.

That is a big time commitment for sure. Sarco shows to have 1893 actions but contacting them may prove otherwise. Pawn shops are the main supply as the kids sell Grandpa's guns off. Good luck in your search.

I assume you want small ring 1898 actions like the 1910 Mexicans. Used to be easily available at Century and I had a half dozen, but unfortunately they all went down the road a while ago. Personally, I wouldn’t bother putting the time and $$ into a ‘93. Maybe a Swede ‘96.

    What's wrong with a '93? I love my 7x57 sporter on a '93 action.

I seen that one for $330, but wow that's almost the price of a 700 rifle. I built one in 6.5x55 a few years ago, it turned out real nice. If I don't find one what would be a good alternative, I really like the 700 action, but there expensive!

Wouldn’t you be ahead of the game, if you started with an action designed for a rimmed case?

I'm in the mood for a project, I have a 98 action that I have been saving, I have a stock coming for it, now for a barrel. Thinking heavy contour in 30-06, in looking on GB I'm seeing 700 sa for about $350, sounds like plan, or buy a complete rifle from Walmart and use the action and sell the stock and barrel. Just trying to weigh out a few options.
