    Pork shortage

Spent a hot, humid day pig hunting yesterday in Savanah river swamp and they were hard to come by. My old Marine buddy killed one about 75 yds with a '94 and missed one running later. I killed 2 with an 870 shooting Loaded with Lyman 525 slug, my only 2 chances. Good eaters and he took them to make sausage. Click image for larger version.

Shootin' hogs and making sausage, what's not to like? I am glad you got to spend a day hunting with your good friend.

With the packing plants closed or operating at very limited capacity, thousands of domestic fat hogs are being gassed and disposed of....what a waste. With much of the domestic livestock not being able to be processed, the local lockers are swamped with butchering. I heard the locker I used to process my deer (brats) will not be processing venison this year...I hope that is incorrect or things change by then. I of course process the loin steaks and some jerky, but not the jalapena/cheddar brats. Guessing meat grinders will be, maybe have been, all bought-up. Nice work on those squealers!
Take a kid to the range, you'll both be glad you did.

Good shooting, man that 12 ga makes a hole! Looks like the two of you did well, good eats.

Good hogs. Can't beat a 12 gauge slug for massive punch.

No shortage in Texas. I got to 125 pounders last week. 7.62X39 is good pork medicine!
