    Found one

Picked up a Savage 24V today. Been looking for a single shot 222 Rem and this is as close as I got. In really nice condition and the scope is a Redfield 2.5. Pretty happy with it. Might have paid too much($500) but I haven't seen very many in 222.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.

Sounds like a bargain, most of them I have seen, go for $600 and up. Those rifles, fastened to those shotgun barrels, make for some stiff, straight shooting guns. I have a .223 over a 12G 3" with screw in chokes, parkerized finish and syn stock. If yours shoots half as good as mine, you have a shooter.

Nice combination gun! You didn't pay too much. Is yours 12 or 20 gauge?

It is a 20 ga. I am going to have to get some extension ring or try a different scope. The one on it sits too far forward for me. I have a 4x that might work.

Friend has a 30-30/12ga. It is amazing how well his 30-30 shoots.

Another vote for the Leupold 2.5X Ultralight. Eye relief is 4-5”.

I have a 24D in 22mag/20ga paid $300 for it a few years ago. Don't ever see Savage 24's around here. I had it imported from Colorado from a family member. I like the ability to have either option for upland game.

    I have a Model 24 in 22LR/410
I paid $575.00 for it a few months ago.
Always longed for one since I was a kid.
Probably paid too much but what the heck, don't see these every day.

That was my thought. Couldn't pass on it.

Savage makes new O/Us but I wouldn't have one.
Synthetic stocks and gap between the barrels, probably work just fine, but there is just something about the old originals.
To me old guns, steel and walnut say "Class".
Just my preference, nothing wrong with new, but very little beauty, in my opinion.

They say the problem with both barrels being connected is they don't always regulate to the same point of aim.

I think it is the model 4200. Have seen a couple and did not like the looks. I think the older ones look better and have better lines.

I had a model 24 410/ 22 , colour cased reciever , I bought it back in the 70's ,paid 50 AUD for it , I had the barrel re-blued and I refinished the stock , I used ox blood boot polish for the stain .I gave it to my Son a couple of years ago and now my Grandaughter uses it .I ended up with a lovely AYA sxs in 410 , beautiful slim and dainty thing it is ,lovely balance and a joy to shoot.

Looks like you got a good deal to me . They go for more than that around here without a scope.

That was a good deal by far. You got $100 scope if you want to sell it. That puts you $400 in gun which is $200 less than bottom price. Bonus, gun looks to be in very nice shape. The older 24s are like gold around these parts. Everybody’s looking for 410 & 20g with 22 & 22mg combos, the 222 is the only CF version that is popular in these parts. The late model guns you can’t give away.

Would one of you with a 22 lr bbl please share the height of the front sight. Mine came sightless and with a chicom red dot. It works but I would prefer a receiver sight.

A fella at work wanted me to get one for him some time back . So I asked him what was the most he was willing to pay . His answer was $125 ................. this was back when the base price of junkers was $300.

Yes , I was able to stifle my laughter until I left .
