    45/45/10 on “lubed” boolits

I came into a bunch of “cowboy” bullets that appear to be lubed with crayon wax. They shoot like it, too ... getting light leading just ahead of the forcing cone in a custom revolver with no history of leading). To check off the variables other than the bullets/lube: using pretty standard loads at about 900 fps ... nothing crazy in the load. the bullets are properly sized to fit the revolver cylinder throats. Also verified that the barrel bore (groove to groove) is properly sized 0.0015” smaller than the throats. I have good forcing cone geometry/finish and a line bored cylinder (and verified alignment with a properly fitting range rod). The bore ID is slick as glass and has no thread choke. So ... rather than scrap these bullets, I am considering a quick tumble and a light coat of White’s 45/45/10. I figure it’s worth a try. Has anyone tried this on traditionally lubed bullets? Is there something I am missing?

I routinely lube commercial cast bullets with 45/45/10 with excellent results.

I also have used 45/45/10 in that exact situation with good results.

    Me too also.
I may be wrong but my thoughts were as follows.
Laser Cast/Oregon Trails bullets with hard lube. At low pressure/low velocity the lube will not "flow" so the tumble lube is the main bullet lube. At high pressure/high velocity the lube will "flow" and augment the tumble lube.

To 'un-lube' them, usually boiling in a pan of water will float it off.

Thanks, all. I purchased some White’s 45/45/10, warmed it a tad and lightly coated ~250 bullets using the Cool Whip Container Swirl Method. So far, the process seems pretty easy. The tutorials on this forum were very helpful. Now I just need to load up some and shoot. Again, thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it! The
