    Sharps series rifle

I'm watching the Sharps series on utube again.
What kind of rifles did they have?????
    It's a flint muzzle loader.
They call it a rifle, but showing them load it, it seem like a smooth bore.
Bite, prime, pour, spit, tap, aim, fire.
    Good series.
    like Horatio Hornblower.

He was a Rifeman - supposedly carried a Baker rifle.

Yep they are Baker rifles I forget the caliber somewhere in the upper .50's lower .60's if I remember right. I always chuckle when they do that load, spit, tap routine cause its a great way to put a ball through your own head but its great for the camera. Another plus to the series is Sean Bean stays alive. With the series on u-tube ya can watch when ever you want now and don't have to hope PBS runs it again.

There is a youtube video of an Australian re-enactor doing the tap load and getting the same number of shots that the troops in the movie did.
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.
