    Lee TL and powder coating

Do Lee TL bullets work well with powder coating?

Specifically I’m looking at the 6 cavity 358 full wad cutter mold.

I cast a lee 452 230 2r tl. And a 9mm 125 2r lee tl, powdercoat both and they shoot just fine. (I do size both after coating)

There are some new moulds available without any grease rings or tl bands just for powdercoating.

Whatever you do, use a good powder! I've tried Harbor Freight flat black and it pales in comparison to Smoke 4320's Traffic Purple.

I've heard the black is abrasive compared to yellow, white, and red.

I ordered Smokes’s translucent copper. I liked the looks of it.

Works great for me at less than max loads. Playing with higher velocities in a 45acp carbine, I noticed that accuracy dropped off almost 200 fps sooner with the tl bullet over the same design traditional grooved. I surmised that the thin tl bands were slipping rifling, but just a guess.

My son and I have shot thousands of that Lee TL wadcutter coated with Smoke's Signal blue powder.

Very clean and accurate, try 2.7 of Winchester Super Target powder. Best part is the lack of smoke on the indoor range.
