    WTB - .257" Bullets, variety

I recently got an Encore barrel in a .257" caliber wildcat. I've never owned anything in .25 caliber and am starting from scratch. I'm looking to try a variety of bullets and see what works best. I'd like to keep it on the lighter side of the caliber, probably under 115gr. It is based on the 25-20 case so there isn't much case capacity for for the heaver weights. If you have got some .257 bullets that you aren't using or some odds/ends that you'd be interested in selling, please send me a PM. I'd also be interested in some 25-20 brass or possibly 218 Bee brass.

    Thanks

For trading stock I've got: a couple sizing dies (.243", .277", .280", .457") and some brass.

the 25-20 had a 60 grain hollow point, with a flattened nose in a factory load a long time ago. That is probably the bullet you should try to find.

Lyman also makes an excellent mold, #457420 GC, that runs about 65 grs & it's a dandy varmint bullet. I used it in my 25/20's with great success.

I've got some oddball stuff, 60gr HP's that were made on a machine that draws used .22 rimfire cases over a slug of lead. At least that's how they were described to me. You can see CCI and Super-X case head stamps on the bases of the bullets.

Also have some 85gr HP's that were made on a similar machine although with what is probably regular bullet jacket material. The guy I bought them from said the man who operated the machine making these would set aside any bullet that gave a "different" resistance when he pulled the arm on the machine and theses were sold as seconds.

If any of these would fit your project, let me know.

The best j bullet may be the 60 gr Hornady, it is designed for the 25-20. Speer makes a 75 grain flat nose.
