First Burger Bear of the season..

I finally connected with a decent bear tonight... it reminded me of why I usually take 2-3 year old bears... this one was 4-5 years old and about 220 dressed... tuff kill too.. the first shot was fatal and double lunged him but when I came up on him in the woods, I will be danged if he didn't get up and start snapping and hissing.. i finished him with a center shot with my 44 shooting the lee 310... but it did startle me a bit when he got up and I was about 10 yards.. it was pretty dark and couldnt see if he was breathing.. the lee 310 put him down for good.. but it was a long haul out of he woods with a 5 foot bear in our dense woods.... i am done in.... nite nite..

the gun was my old Marlin 336 in 32 win special featuring a 170g ish grain Flat nose boolit being pushed by 16.5g of 2400... runs near 1800fps. range about 95 yards for the first shot.. then 10 yards with my taurus 44 mag running the lee 310 over 2400..

yes, I got an exit SF on the 32 win special. not on the 44, will be watching for a bullet. alloy was 50-50 range scrap and ww.. with a touch of tin.. my standard hunting alloy.. and plinking alloy... and all around everything except BP alloy

Congrats ! I’ve been involved in more then a few bear deals here in VA (we used to do damage control for them in an orchard). And I gotta say I never quite got the handle on how to cook bear . Never tried ground bear however !

Nice bear Marco! My Uncle used to 50/50 bear and venison for burger and throw in a little pork fat. Makes for a good meatball or patties... I need to shoot a bear this year...
