    Congrats on the NEW Bride

Looking forward to the report on how this bear progresses,
    especially the stew.

    Thank you

Cook it just like pork. Anything that works for pork will work for bear. I've done it in the slow cooker and in a pan. One Christmas for three families - bear in the slow cooker with savory spices, three other meats - and the bear was finished first and asked for more than any other!

I have a friend with 4 black bear mounts in his basement den. He has orders from his wife to shoot a tender meat bear. It took him two days last September to work up the courage to call her and confess he'd shot a 330# bear.

I shot one last year in Highland County. I quartered it out and used large stainless crab boil pots to boil all the fat off the legs. After that I deboned it and put the meat in a crock pot overnight. Using my wife's Italian Beef recipe I cooked some of the most delicious meat I have ever had. I even took it to my company's Christmas Party and people ate every last shred of it.

Nice kill Marko! I have never been on a bear hunt, it's on my bucket list along with elk and moose. I've never eaten bear, I had some elk when I lived in Washington 35 years ago, and a friend here in the midwest had some moose he got from his friend and they let me have some roast from it. I really liked the elk, I loved the moose!

    Congrats sir, and well done!!!

I've chased bear over three states and over about a 10 yr. period...and the red gods have yet to smile on me. However, my wife and I have been blessed to have been given a few bear roasts over the years. I don't know where my wife found the recipes but each of them compared very favorably to beef roasts...with the exception of not having enough makin's for gravy. Good stuff!!

The last couple years we killed bear we’d skin them quarter them and a friend that’s a Charlottesville VA professional firefighter would take it to the firehouse and they’d make something along the lines of what you say , never tried what they made . But they sure seemed glad to recieve all we gave them .

Howdy Marko and Congratulations with the nice bear!
That was right nice of Mr. Bruin to get up before you were getting ready to poke him with your rifle.
You sure will get a bunch of good eating out of that ol' Blackie.
That 50/50 load is what I would be busting bears with in a big flat nosed slug

Forgive me here, please as this is very likely a most stupid question?

    Why "burger bear"?

    You make ground bear meat?

    Well?

I've heard that stew was a very good way to make bear...if you know how to do it.
...Your dog looks mighty proud too. Hah
Congratulations...Me? Never shot a bear...Never saw one in the woods...They used to be darn near extinct here in WI. Made a big comeback but I haven't been hunting since '86.
