    Hollywood Shell Holder

I have a Number 7 Hollywood shell holder and wondering what cartridge case is it for?
A 9mm case slides into it OK, but does not set right.
The case will rock in the holder not setting down in the holder. The case extractor groove
is sitting on the top of the holder.
The shell holder came with the Universal press. I may have to modify the shell holder
so it can be used with 9mm sized cases.

First, is it a real Hollywood? Redding, C-H, RCBS, Dunbar all made that style shellholder. Most of the real Hollywood's were not marked for caliber.

If you can post a picture of yours we should be able to sort this out.

There are adapters out there to be able to use regular shell holders.

Search 'Hollywood/CH universal shell holder adapter' it'll take ya to some on ebay for about $30.

Thanks for the info, I do have the adapter mentioned, but I
would like to use this shell holder. Right now I have too
many Irons in the fire, working in yard and painting in house.
I'll get back when I can.

As Pressman has suggested, I do not believe what you have is a Hollywood, unless it is stamped as such. I own a lot of their shell holders, and I don't think their name is on any of them. What they did was hand-engrave the caliber on the top. I will take another look.

Many manufacturers made them way back when.

Referring to my old Handloader Digests for the #7 shell holder:

    RCBS: 30/40 Krag, 6.5x53R, .303 British, .405 Winchester, .44S&W Russian
    Pacific/Bair: .218 Bee, 25-20 WCF, 32-30 WCF,
    Lachmiller: 8mmxx57R
    Herters: 7.62 Russian, 38-56, 45-70 family, Weatherby-family

    There are other companies.
