Anyone know anything about the Springfield 1911 double stack?
Anyone know anything about the Springfield 1911 double stack?
I have large hands, but short fingers. The only double stack handguns that fit me are the CZ75 and Browning High Power.
In school: We learn lessons, and are given tests.
In life: We are given tests, and learn lessons.
OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.
This ain't your Grandma's sewing circle.
EVERYONE!
Back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.
I had one, carried on duty as a peace officer for short while. I’ve got large hands. The trigger guard was too small. They worked so hard to make the grip not too large i was always making a conscious effort find the trigger which was too close to the grip. My finger kept hitting the front of the trigger guard.
My partner had a Paraordinance. There were several Paraordinance’s on duty for a while. None of these guns lasted. I was glad to get back to my single stack. YMMV
Rock Island's 22TCM is fun, & comes w/9mm swap bbl. They make a 45 w/ 14 capacity. Or the Remington perhaps. With luck I'll have a convertible B4 long. If you can be comfortable with a Browning Hi-Power the double stack 45s are fine.
I have a Para Ordnance that has been flawless for the 5 years I've had it. Just slightly thicker in the grip!
I have 2 Para Ordnance .45's they really fit my hands as I ware XL size gloves, I shoot my para's in IDPA matches and they function flawless.
Para can be good, all their internals are castings that are not so precision made so swapping in some premium aftermarket parts generally improves them appreciably. Most notably the sear and hammer.
I had quite a few of them over the years and never had one fail, I currently have one of the last P14 45s made in stainless, unfired in it's original box.
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Doug you worked on my Para single stack, made in Canada. It was the one that did not need muzzle work. While I carry my Light Commander (Kimber) because it's easy to carry the Para is by far the best to shoot.
