WTB external extractor for Kimber 1911

    Hi all,
I know this is a long shot, but its worth a try.
Looking for an external extractor for a Kimber 1911 in 45acp.
I guess they are prone to break, and replacements cant be found.
Maybe someone has one in their parts box.
Tried Kimber, Numrich, Midwest Gun Parts, Jack First and Brownell's. No luck.

    Thanks, Dale

they used to replace the whole slide with an internal extractor slide for free because of the troubles people had with reliablility with the external. Me? ive got a commander with an external extractor and its ran thousands of trouble free rounds and you would pry it away from me to change a thing.

Thank you for the links NyFirefighter, no luck there, but I appreciate the help.
That's what I'm finding out Lloyd, some run forever and others, not so much.
    The search continues...……..

I think they changed the extractor design three times before going back to the internal type. So, be careful that you buy the correct version. I would not expect it to ever break. Internal extractors break on 1911’s, but the external extractor is much tougher. Just avoid steel cased ammo, and avoid dropping the slide on a cartridge case already in the chamber. Only feed from the mag.

I would just ask Kimber what they will do for you if it ever breaks.

My Google Fu is pretty good & I couldn't find anything else. Did you contact them? They are an official Kimber repair shop.

No, I didn't, just looked over their inventory. That's a great idea, I'll call them on Tuesday.
    Thanks again!

My slide is a Grand Raptor II so I'm not sure if its the same. But at this point I'd sure be willing to give it a try. Let me know what your price is.
    Thanks, Dale

I had issues with my Pro Raptor II several years ago and they had me send it to them and replaced the slide, as I recall. I had to send them the whole gun for them to do it, as they tested and sighted it while they did the repair.

If you go that route, make sure you remove anything that's not stock. They have to return it to stock before sending it back to you.
