I have for sale the ultimate rifle for deer hunting in a "shotgun only" zone. It is an original TC Contender with a 14" barrel in 309 JDJ. The frame is an early one, before the easy open conversion. The hammer has the cross bolt safety. The trigger is a nice, crisp 3 lb break. The grips are Pachmayer presentation grips and forend. The scope base/rings are Leupold brand one piece design.
The barrel was a TC factory barrel in 30 Herrett. It was rechambered by SSK industries to 309 JDJ. It is a 1:10" twist. This shoots very well with both cast and jacketed bullets. My favorite was a Saeco 315 with Reloader 15. This produced sub 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. Most jacketed bullet loads were around 1". A better shooter could do better. The recoil of this round is surprisingly light. It's heavier than most 357 magnum revolvers, but lighter than full force 44 magnums. Call it 41 magnum level recoil.
I also have an RCBS reloading die set for 309 JDJ, and a Lee 358 winchester die set. I needed the 358 win sizing die as an intermediate step to forming brass. you will also need a 308 winchester sizing die which is not included here. I have 60 ready cases, which is Starline 444 marlin brass that I formed, annealed, fired. I then fully prepped it, annealed, trimmed, cleaned, sized, the whole works.
I would like to sell this as a package. This would have to be sent to an FFL, or picked up locally. I get around most of central MN, but live south of St. Cloud, and travel to Alexandria every other week or so. I would like $625 plus shipping for the entire package. Shipping cost should be around $25.
327 federal brass is sold.
