    The Story of Lead

I found this history of lead mining interesting and thought others would too.

It comes as a major byproduct of other mining operations.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

My house sits on the land that this video was recorded on! If memory serves me, that facility closed in the 1970’s. My property was purchased from the company in the late 80s. The main facility is still standing and they have converted the powerhouse into a mining museum. It’s a neat way to spend an afternoon. They opened an off-road park behind it where folks can play in the sand tailings with 4wheelers and trucks. In an somewhat ironic twist they recently turned the reservoir wall into the massive backstop for a public shooting range. From mining lead out of the ground to putting it back in!

I feel like all the new green deal SJWs need to watch this. I think California needs a reminder as to where its all coming from and why its not that bad to hunt with lead or shoot some rounds into dirt provided your not polluting any water supplies. I'm just putting it back where it came from what do you want from me lol.

Political correctness is ruining our way of life almost every day now as it feels.

As a caster all I can say is I wish I had couple of those stacks as mine is almost gone

I’ll have to listen to it again for his voice. I always enjoyed his short radio shows, especially far away from home, listening to them at noon on Armed Forces Radio.

It still works for me. It might have been your internet or something. Try it again.

Jeez....OSHA, MSHA and the EPA would have a field day at those locations! No wonder we don't have any more lead mines here.
