    New Press

Just finished cleaning and reassembly of a new addition. A RCBS Jr.2. In real good shape and clean. Only has the small primer arm. I think I got a decent deal on it($40).

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.

I would have gave $40 for it in a heartbeat. I see old iron presses on the EBay all the time, and at first they seem like a great deal until you look at what you are expected to pay for shipping, often close to the price of the press, and some take specific shell holders that cost a lot..A lot of priming arms like that are for both large, and small primers, and you just change the little nail like stem, and cup on the end.

Sure thing! I picked up a JR3 a couple years ago for about that same price. I know I couldn't replace it for that amount.

Good Job! You can probably date the press by looking at the top, where the dies thread in, usually a 2 digit date code for the year. (But you probably already knew that.)If the primer catcher came with the press it makes it an older unit. Some day, after you have gone to the great range in the sky, some one will end up with that press and marvel at what a wonderful press it is! Taken care of, it will last many lifetimes.

You are going to bolt that press down right? Don't think the clamp is going to fare very well!

I saw the number on the top, but did not know what it meant. Made in 71. It was clamped down so I could check out the action. Nice and smooth.

I plan on getting a mounting plate for it from Inline Fabrications. I use one of his mounts. Easy to change tools. Also going to see about a large primer arm from RCBS.

Great deal. I paid $60 for a clean RCBS RS2 and thought I got a good deal.

My old RCBS JR is like that - can swap out large and small primer assemblies.

I just got off the phone with RCBS. It is the swap out. They are sending me a new arm with both large and small assembly. Great service.

I don’t need anymore presses, but I pick up the good deals when I find them, to be able to start some new people into reloading!!!!! ( seems a lot more interest lately, hahaha!!!) I think you made a fine deal.
I firmly believe that you should only get treated by how you act, not by who or what you are!!

I keep telling myself that you don't have to buy it just because it is a good deal. Apparently I am not a good listener.

    I say you done good!

I have two JR’s now and though my single stage work is primarily on a Redding BOSS these days, they are not going anywhere so long as I am on the right side of dirt and functional.

My first 35 years of handloading was spent with my first JR press.

Swamp, I have that same press, bought it years ago. Since you just put it back together, what holds the handle up? My handle stays down all the time. I’ve never had mine apart, but must be missing a spring or something. Just keep a piece of Velcro around it to keep it up and out of the way.
