Aftermarket Powder Funnels for Coated 9mm/38/357 Needed? Dillon 650

My start at 38 special did not start well today. First the pile of garbage vibra prime wouldn’t load Tula primers and this is with a replacement tray from costumer service.

Got dies setup and started to load and was shaving bullets; a 158gr sns hi-tek coated RNFP. I increased bell with the included powder funnel for Dillon 650. Also taper crimping in the last stage. That helped some but still some shaving.

I’m using a hornady seating/crimp die but backed the crimp off so it just seats.

I’m going to try again with less crimp, less bell, backing the seating did out just 1/16th of a turn more and see how that works.

Will the DAA stepped powder funnels help in this situation? DAA and a S3 make $38 powder funnels. For pistol I only load coated lead so I’m wondering if this is something that will cause less of a headache.

The Mr Bullet Feeder powder funnels pretty much eliminated my bullet shaving issues. It functions the same as a Lyman M die

You know, I read some used a 9mm taper crimp.

So I swapped out the newly bought lee 38sp taper crimp and spun a 8 year old hornady 9mm/38sp taper crimp in and viola, perfection. No lead or brass shavings. Fell in and out of case gauge. Doesn’t make sense to me but it worked

    The DAA funnels will work.

Lathesmith here will make custom funnels for ya.

I've bought several custom powder funnels, M die style from Uniquetek.

If you buy them from the parent company (Photo Escape, Inc.), you will save money on each one you buy.

    Uniquetek Price: $39.95

    Photo Escape, Inc. Price: $35.00

The website doesn't have one listed for the 450 Bushmaster, but I use the 45ACP Powder Transfer Unit / Powder Funnel for the 450 Bushmaster since the 450 is a 45 caliber projectile.

I just received this funnel and it is awesome! It allows me to seat those 147 gr and up boolits without shaving the bases.

Wow...3 year old post saves me some money. I just ordered the 9mm and also a 30 cal powder funnel so I can finally expand my 300 BLKOUT cases. This forum is great!

Yeah, we get new posts about the same old things everyday, then complain about people who actually use the search function…. Just how it works.
