We will have to agree to disagree on that one. If you had that much gas getting by your base band it would be leading your barrel like nobodies business. The idea is to make sure there is MINIMAL gas getting by the base. In addition to that the gas would have to go all the way past the bullet to get enough heat in the lube groove to melt what lube it there.

If they lube were melted you would find every bullet with no lube on it at all as the rotation of the bullet would fling the melted lube off the bullet as soon as it left the muzzle. When you do find lube on the ground it is almost always in "chunks", if it were melted it would be a liquid mist.

Regardless of how it works, my objective is to have full lube grooves!
