well here is how it works they list and have friend bid up price so some one will step in
if you dont think its not true
look in the coins ,they will list a silver eagle for 15, do you think someone is really going to sell for that when sold will be 30 +
Who cares if a friend bids up the price. Bid what you are willing to pay and stay at that price. Another will come along.
Oh hell im not buying it I have 3 . Figured someone else might !

If a shill bidder wins the auction they still have to pay the eBay and PayPal fees.
NRA Benefactor.
If they want to bid all crazy, let em have it. They come around from time to time.
I still have one NIB Pro Melt here that I'm saving. And it's NOT for sale. It's for when my current Pro Melt eventually dies (if it ever does).
KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.
$477. Just $125 more for a Magma
Mal
Mal Paso means Bad Pass, just so you know.
You may be paranoid, but that doesn't mean somebody's not out to get you!
wow 477 .00 unreal what people pay

I don't understand - at this price I'd rather invest in a new Magma.
Ya that’s crazy isn’t it

My guess is that some of these high bids come from folks in special circumstances, who want what they want, but not through normal commercial channels. Or perhaps, an ebay seller will ship overseas, whereas a regular US supplier will not.
I've noticed it's not unusual for the following listings of such a high bid beast to go for much less money - that's where I get my stuff, and that's consistent with my thoughts above.
I think I've maybe seen the something of the same sort in the S&S, where items that don't seem like really good deals to old timers here are snapped up by new members with single digit post counts. Maybe some of them are folks who want something they don't have experience with and therefore don't have a handle on the value of, use a search engine to find it, and grab it without having done their homework. I've been guilty of the same crime.
Maybe overseas bidders , a lot of stuff thats easily accessable to you guys in the US is not easy obtained elsewhere .RCBS and Hornady no longer deal with os customers ,here in Oz we have to go through a local shop who has to go through a national dealer who has a protected arrangement with the manufacturer , all the while each adds thier cost to the products.Ebay cuts out a lot of bs.
Good point. I keep forgetting that, on line, a parochial viewpoint doesn't get the whole picture.
I'm in a similar situation as is a non-US ebay buyer, in that my lathe is a gorgeous 1985 Myford Super 7B long bed, with gear box. Since Myford closed and sold to RDG, the used market for accessories and factory tooling has almost disappeared. Certainly very little is ever seen on the US market. So, I buy from the UK and often have to sweet talk a seller into shipping over the pond and after saying I will likely be either the highest or second highest bidder - it would be good business to agree to ship to me, as I'll run the selling price up if not top it out.
Ebay has made this process much easier with their global shipping program, too. In the UK, a seller must sign up for this feature, which is easy, then is responsible only for shipping to a local UK address, upon which the Ebay system takes over and gets the item to me. Or not, as has happened a few times, then Ebay makes it good without dunning the seller.
