AFAIK, there should be two wires, not one. Is there another wire you didn't show? If not, I'd say someone put one crimp connector on both both wires. In which case you'll need to pull that off, and put a connector to match your terminals on each wire.
https://www.thermometricscorp.com/thermocouple.html shows an unterminated type-J thermocouple. Two wires coming out.
yes sr, on the other end of the cable there are two cables with two terminals marked + and -
what's the other end look like? --- 2 wires?
that could be for attaching it to the heat source but I wouldn't have used the plastic crimp-on
yes, on the other side there are two wires, and surely the plastic will be the first thing I remove
The thermocouple you have is meant to be mounted to something. It is similar to the ring type I use.
You have that blue connector on one end then on the other end you have a blue and red connectors correct?
it could be a K type or could be whatever.
Don't like being hammered by the Cast Boolits Staff, then don't be a nail.
The rules are simple to follow.
Your split spade lug is almost certainly for mounting the thermocouple onto whatever you seek to monitor.
Looks like a size 12-14 forked crimp terminal lug. It was likely made that way to connect to a terminal block assembly.
Could you please post a pic showing the whole assembly?

When you see the polyvinylchloride (PVC) insulator on a crimp-on connector it's most likely tin plated copper which has a temp limit of 105degC or 221degF. Your thermocouple may not work for a lead pot but should be OK for a lubesizer. There should be a letter and number code that will describe it's construction and another for the size wire it fits. If it is rated to handle high temp then you'll need a hi-temp crimp on connector that is rated for better than 850degF or 450degC.
Inside the "fork" terminal is where the thermocouple is located and true enough, its made up from the two wires fused together by welding.
The tiny "droplet" where the two wires are fused together is where the measurement is taken.
So, nothing wrong with what you have, it's most likely a "K-element"
