    I have gone green.

Green dot that is. LGS did not have any red dot or unique. I like to use them for light rifle loads. So time to try a new powder.

Plenty of loads in older Hercules manuals. If you don’t have them you can find them online. I have a lot of Green Dot myself but haven’t used it much. Was a purchase during the last shortage. I will eventually get around to using more of it.

My Lyman cast #3 has loads too. I use that older manuel more than the 4th.

Im going to try it with 45 colt too. I been using Alliant sport pistol for my semi-auto pistols. I'll see how it meters and go from there to see what else i may try it on.

Back a few well more then a few years ago, I started loading with it. 12 gauge was the best all around powder light to heavy field loads. Then went to red and blue.

I used up a lot of it in a 7x57, 10 grains and a 135 grain bullet, shot well. When I ran out, I switched to ten grains of 700X, about the same accuracy. Green Dot is good stuff for a lot of things.

When Obama was elected and everything disappeared I found a jug (4lbs?) of Green Dot . I am glad that I bought it. It works quite well in 38 Special revolver and in 357 Magnum revolver and rifle. For the 357 magnum it will not produce top end velocity. Light and mid level loads work just fine. For pistol caliber lever action silhouette a 30-1 alloy RNFP 158 grains bullet and 4.5 grains of Green Dot is very easy to shoot, accurate to 100 meters and is plenty enough powerful for the 1/2 scale animals.

I also found green dot during the Obama empty shelves buyout.
Then I wondered why it is not more popular.
It seems to run just about like all the other Alliant dot powders just a little different speed.
I found I can use the exact same powder charge for 45acp & 9mm. So my powder measure is already setup for either of those 2 calibers and interchangeable

Shot 50 rounds i loaded. 225 grain bayou bullets coated cast. 5.4 gains of green dot. They all shot well. I was hitting cans at 25 yards out of my 1911. No unburnt powder. And the casings were clean after firing.

I used to keep some for loading shotshells, but have used it in rifle and pistol too. It is a good approximation of Unique, but isn't as dirty in low pressure loads.

Next outing i'll chrono them. Im waiting on some BHN 12. From missouri bullet co. Eager to try them. Im getting some leading with BHN 18'S.

As many have said, Green Dot is great for a lot of things (pistol, rifle and SG), but it's even better than Red Dot because it can be used in 20ga loads as well as 12ga, and it works really well in both.

I have been using Green Dot in my. 44 mags for many many years. As a rule of thumb I've found I can get the same velocity and accuracy as Unique, by using a 10 % less powder charge.

    Ya done good.
