Green Dot has always been a popular 16 gauge shotgun powder. I have in the past used it in place of Unique in the .45acp & .45 Colt when I run low on Unique. I have used it in 30-30 loads(both lead and jacketed) also with some success. I even tried some out in the 8x57 and it worked there also. I am going to try Green in the .41 magnum next and see how that works out. Probably be later in the summer before I get around to that though.

That is a good find! Just so you know Alliant American Select is about identical to Green Dot load wise ( newer formulae) I use alot od American Select in My cast rifle loads in shooting "Low Node" Just at sonic or sub sonic for that it is a very accurate rifle powder! Just as Green Dot is

If my aged memory serves me correctly, Green Dot was the favorite powder in .41 magnum for Dean Grennell. Always enjoyed his writing.

I like GD in cast rifle and shotgun loads. Works great. Handgun too.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

    go to http://castpics.net/dpl/index.php/re...okup-by-powder
then select load lookup by powder.

there are a lot of options for green dot

    I'm getting 1" groups with my 9MM - 125r @ 36 ft

that's as far as I've got treating GD in handguns. I acquired an 8# bottle with the purchase of a sizemaster

How well does Green Dot meter through a Dillon at pistol load volumes?

I've used it for years in 12 gauge trap and skeet loads, have never tried it for pistol loands and I've got a couple of 8 pounders in the powder box.

Never worried about volume accuracy from a MEC 650/Hustler/9000G. Curious if it meters well enough for pistol loading.

I don't know about Dillon. Green Dot at 4.5 grains measures very consistently in my Lee Pro Auto Disc.

In my lee perfect powder dispenser. It does vary by 0.2 grains. Unique and red dot does the same thing.

I've been playing with GD in 45acp and use lee dippers for pistol loads with flake powders. GD seems to fill the dipper very easily; like it just settles in and levels easier than others. Interesting to me anyway.

Got a chance to try my 223 loads yesterday. I was hitting 2 inches to the right. I ran some i had loaded with Red dot. Same thing. Adjusted the scope. Both the green dot and red dot loads were accurate. Then i shot my A22 Target. Same deal shots off to the right. Not sure what was up with both guns off a little at the start.
