Some work with the Henry New Original H011C

I have had the rifle for going on two years it’s is so much fun to shoot and have fun with. The wood is unbelievable and it is accurate. I bought a 270 grain CG WFN mould from Accurate so I can developer good hunting load for this rifle. The boolit has a wide meplat and is really an ideal weight. My goal was to get to 1200 FPS from the Rifle. I will mention I also mounted the forward Skinner peep on this rifle it is fantastic to work with and in my personal opinion a great improvement. The group is from 50 yards from the bench and certainly is some good accuracy I averaged 1184 FPS for a 10 shot group measured with LabRadar. The load is dose of Universal and the case web measurement expansion was the same as the low power factory loads. The brass was all Starline. The alloy was 17 lbs plumbers lead to 1.5 lbs printers Linotype. Gas checks are Hornady the lube was RCBS. This load shoots equally well in my Henry 45 Colt carbine. Really looking forward to testing these in water soaked news print although I do not think I need much expansion anyways. But some won’t hurt. Here is the bullet; http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_...45-270VG-D.png

I have the Henry original Steel frame version here they are nice rifles the case is very good as is the wood fit and finish. Mine is 44-40 and with 210 grn its very accurate also. Mine is a dose of 2f BP and a .030 wad. Only issue Ive had with mine is remembering to move off hand so follower can travel LoL.

    Hi Walks!
I believe you are mistaken, Winchester didn't make Henry's. From Wikipedia: Designed by Benjamin Tyler Henry in 1860, the original Henry was a sixteen shot .44 caliber rimfire breech-loading lever-action rifle. It was introduced in the early 1860s and produced through 1866 in the United States by the New Haven Arms Company.

Know what the Henry's were, did not know that Henry made the replicas in anything but 44-40. Also know about the original Henry cartridge which was a rimfire 44-28. Just curious about what the rifle was.

They make this one in 45 LC which made me very happy seeing I already cast and reload for that caliber . Done very well imlcuding the one piece barrel and magazine tube wood is fantastic and it is the period correct action.

Makes me wonder why they do not add 44 Special in the Henry lineup...

Got him on a technicality (maybe) - but Oliver Winchester was a shareholder of New Haven Arms Co - I reckon its one all!!!!!

The first Italian Replica's were offered only in .44WCF.
It took until about 1995 or so to come it .45Colt. I even saw some made in .38SPL. But I don't think that worked out too well as I only ever saw 2 of them.

Back about 1993+ Uberti started to chamber the M1873 clones in .45Colt. The M1866 followed about a year later. I think the .45Colt chambered Henry clones came out in about 1995.

About 1988 I bought a Uberti clone in .44WCF that had it's chamber sleeved for .44Spl. Loaded it with the only FP bullet available at the time; Lyman #42798.
Used an old set of Lyman Anti-American dies from the early 1960's. They set the chamber down small enough that the .428 bullets created a "shoulder" so they couldn't be set back into the case under spring pressure in the mag tube.

Rifle worked ok, just Hated it. Sold it off quick, bought a M1873 clone and never looked at another henry.

To be clear this is NOT an Italian clone it’s 100% American made and extremely well made great fit and finish as well as some fantastic wood... they build each gun to painfully close specs and the builder follows the Gun through the entire build. This gun is a absolutely wonderful rifle and incredibly accurate.
