    223 subsonic load data

This isn’t really a cast question but I am hoping someone can help. I am looking for any subsonic load data for 223 powders I have are unique, 4198, 4756, trailboss, 4895. Haven’t really decided on a bullet

I use 5.5 gr Unique with the lee bullet, gives close to 22 win rimfire mag Vol. would think 3 gr would give you what you are looking for.

I use Win 231 for 2 loads 2.65 grs. and 4.5 grains both with NOE 55 grain flat nose mx bullet. Works real well on raccoon's.
The only powder you list that might work I think would be Unique.

Titegroup or Bullseye should work. See what 3 grains does and adjust from there.

I know you are looking to load .223 and you have your reasons but when I was on that journey, I decided to load .22lr primed casings with the 55gr LEE boolit for subsonic rounds that still hit hard.

I still have yet to find a truly clean burning powder but 1.25gr Ramshot Silhouette seems to consistently project the pill at 1000fps.

I did trim the cases down to .45" long and made a crimp die from a .223 crimp die I dont use. Total cost is about the same as .22lr off the shelf in bulk packs. .223 primers are impossible to find right now so I would save mine for the coming insurrection.... (tic)

Wonder if Trail Boss might work. Speer manuals used to have reduced loads for 55 gr fmjs but they were more in the 22 WMR range.

4.5grs of TrailBoss with 69grs Hornady Match jacketed is subsonic and safe and load is accurate in my 1/8” Tikka. I use pistol primer.

Start higher then 4.5 and reduce your load accordingly till you get subsonic.

6grs was around 1150 FPS. Have actual chrono data somewhere.
