I shoot the Lachmiller 174 gr. FN GC, Powder coated ,and traditional lubes over 21 gr. Of IMR 4198. They shoot equally well out of my lever guns , and my 788 bolt gun. YMMV

In regards to shooting safety.Until you are ready to fire, keep your booger hook off the bang switch.
I think that mold is a copy of the 31141, there's one on evil bay right now. Seems a lot of the Herters molds were very close copies of Lyman designs too. All the Lachmiller stuff I've seen and have is very high quality, you probably got a better mold than a Lyman.

MOLON LABE
RCBS 180 FN is another good killer, as is the 150 FN. Almost anything with a fn you can put through the lungs will kill them.

Koger and GregLaRouche, please post how well/or not the PCed Lee 170 309 shoots w/out gas checks. I've had excellent results on whitetails with gas checks (2 in 2 years), but am also known as the king of cheap! Gotta keep up appearances, you know.
I give a thumb up for the C309170F- here's 4 of them from my 30-30 @ 100 yards.

Dang good shooting Thomas. I had a "duuhh" moment today, when I checked the 170g Lees I had casted, they were flat nosed, don't know what I was thinking. I had some checked and sized, so I powder coated them, going to PC some without checks tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies so far.
Good afternoon
I am very happy with the RBS 180 FNGC in most any caliber 30. At about 1750 fps cast of 50-50 or even range scrap at 50 yards and under (river bottoms) it does a fine job on any thing it sacks into.

Years ago, I bought the Lee C309-150 RF just because it was on sale. I didn’t have a 30-30 but what the heck. I have shot it through Dad’s sporterized 03-A3 and it shot great. Years later, my Wife inherited her grandfather’s Winchester and I loaded some for her she hasn’t shot yet. Works great in my AR10, M1A, and scout rifle. I was really impressed how it shot through the AR15 in 300BO. I will get a heavier RF in the future for the bolt guns.

Fcvan, I shoot a lot of 300BO, could you pm me some data. I have had good luck with some Lee 230 gr I cast and coated with moly, in both my AR's and a Ruger Ranch bolt gun. I will be powdercoating some of them shortly.
