    Price increase

I was looking through a 1970 Herter's catalog and stumbled on this. I've been looking into checks and have been hit with sticker shock. I need a time machine. LOL

$2.50 in 1970 is equal to $16.33 today. It would still be a deal!

I have a hard time understanding why gas checks should cost so much. Somebody please tell me why?

Yes, if you’re going back in time pick up 10 of those M1 Garands and M1 carbines advertised in the 60s and early 70s for $69.95 a piece. I guess that was a lot of money back then when folks were making less than $2 an hour.

Less taxes then and I would still be ahead at 70.00 a piece. 1000 and up around here. 20/20 that looking back. Not sure how many can buy one with one weeks worth of labor today.

Supply (or lack there of) and demand... not everyone has the tools, time or desire to make them and manufacturers capitalize on that.

They are over priced for sure. Almost as much as primers. Thing is you really don't need them except for hunting loads.

Jeez! I'd LOVE to find a Garand or Carbine at that price now!
