    Hodgdon Leverevolution for ?

I have about 2.5 lbs of the HLeverevolution powder on hand that I was loading 30-30 with, but I sold my 30-30.This powder is in the same general area on a burn rate chart as H380, BL-C, 748,and CFE223..It seems like it would be good for my 223,as well as my 7mm08. I know I could get a safe load worked up for either, but I figured I would see if any of you have had experience using this powder for loads that are not for traditional lever rifles. Thanks

Thanks,I intend to use it with bullets from 60-70 gr. I already had about a pound, and a half left from my 30-30,but bought more the other day when I went after powder, and they were not stocked very well. I bought a pound of IMR 4166,because it's similar enough to 4064,and a pound of the Leverevolution .It seems like both powders run a little cheaper than most.I could have got some of that Superformance powder, but really had no clue about it.

It's funny how we'll find other than traditional uses for powders when the supply gets gobbled up during emergencies (real and fake).

I use LeverRevolution for 6.5 Grendel and 120 - 123 grain bullets in an AR I built (just to see how accurate I could make one). It gave me speed similar to AA2520 and accuracy similar to XMR8208. In other words it was great.

It seems to me to work especially well with a moderate capacity case and heavy bullets for that case. No "gettin scary" pressure signs like AA2520. At least that's my experience.

If we see a continuation/Increase in the shortage some are seeing for Powder/Primers/Ball; then we will once again have to look at options such as "Non-Optimum" powders. Last shortage I was able to get some LeverEvolution when not much else was available. Here's a write up I did on LeverEvolution in the .223:

Yea, Out of boredom I got to kinda doing inventory on what I have on hand, and realize that I had more bullets than I had powder to load them with, what really surprised me was how many 7 mm bullets I have accumulated,I probably have more bullets thanI will ever shoot, but it bothers me not having powder for them.I probably should have just sold some, .I load for 7mm08,and 7 mmRem Mag,and am over stocked on 145,150,and 139s.I seldom even shoot the 7mag,but I do keep some RL22 on hand for it,but I am down to about a pound, and a half each of 4064,and 4350,and would like to keep the 4064 for my 30-06. I used to use 4350 in my 270,but switched to H100v,so I started using the 4350 in the 7 mm08 with good results.I hoped to find some on the shelf the other day,but they were out of both 4064,and4350,so I bought the 4166 because I have read up on it some, and know it is basically supposed to be an Enduron version of 4064.I have been wanting to try that StaBALL 6.5 for my 7 mm08,and almost ordered some, but I couldn't justify the hazmat..

While all of this is possibly conjecture, my understanding is 4166 is their take on Varget and 4451 is their H4350.

We all know that there can be many powders in any particular burning range, so take it how you will. I also understand we sometimes take what we can get, but looking into my powder cabinet I have many many powders I bought to fill the void I felt existed (the last Obama scare). I ended up with more different powders than I needed. To be honest, I don't even look over in that corner of the cabinet because it is a mess. My rambling point is unless you are out, or close to out, of the "known" powders, buying lots of maybes and mights might tend to fill up your cabinet like mine.

Hey, you can get quite an education by doing so, and may find just the ticket for the cartridge you're working on right now. That's kind of how I found LeverRevolution worked well for the Grendel. But you may not....

Some day I will figure out how to use the Acc#2, VVN140, and Norma203B that a late friend left behind. I bought a pound of Superformance and it seemed that 22-250 was all I could use it for; so I wasn’t going to buy any more. Then a friend gave me another pound of it when he moved- good thing it is brilliant in the 22-250! I still need to use up a bunch of Norma Magnum, H4831, and W760 before I break into any of my newer powders. A powder burn rate chart is SO useful.
