When I purchase BP I order from Powder Inc in large quantities. Just looked at current prices mostly for information. Price is way higher than last time I ordered. Did they go up gradually or did the take a big jump? Doesn't really make a difference just curious.

Prices don't look to be much higher than the case I bought last year.

Oh boy....sounds scary to me. For 30 Years I bought in case lots but I haven't been shooting as much BP. The last case I bought was the first time Ohomo got elected. I sense some sticker shock for me, yes?

I just bought some 1.5F Olde Eynsford from Grafs, It was $22.69 per pound. That's not a bulk order though.

I went through all my old paper work. It's been longer than I thought. In 2013 I paid $10.70 a pound for KIK, $13.60 a pound for Olde Eynsford and $20 a pound for Swiss.

I started burning Blackpowder seriously in 1990 - used up 5 pound I had bought in the 1960's and then scrounged goex from every gunshop I went past @ around 23-27 per pound (I cleaned out the bits n pieces they had in about a two hundred mile radius of my house -----the only alternative was Wano from a bloke in the city - a couple of us got together (he had the contact) and bought bulk Goex fireworks powder split a 50 pound bag cost us about 15 bucks per pound - Then the Moosic plant blew up - shortly the fireworks plant blew up ----- the Wano bloke retired - no powder !!! - then chinese fireworks powder in bulk - early 2000's the price of that around 12 to 15 per pound, dirty stuff but it worked - and I had a good stash of the old GOEX, ---Wano came back in maybe 2010 or so? - selling now around 70 bucks (per KILO) in the city and high 90's up country - Swiss was around a few years back - I never saw any and sticker shock stopped me from looking - last I heard a kilo of Swiss was well over a hundred bucks. We have a club member goes to the city regular and will bring back Wano - quantity buys a bit of discount - the last lot $65 I think (per kilo) - that would put Wano at 18 - 20 per pound USD - not so bad considering.
Aussie dollar over this time has proly averaged 70cents US - been as low as 46cents and as high as 1.10.

i was about three years out of date with that ---latest gunshop price for Wano 95 to 135 per kilo - the bulk deal lower of course but I guess closer to 80 than 65

That's about retail around here as well, and as you mentioned, per lb., not bulk.

Powder Inc, 5 Pounds of 3f Swiss, is $36.90 a pound, or, $184.50 for the Five Pounds.
This does seem rather a lot higher 'per pound' ( even buying 'FIVE' ) than what I recall spending 'per pound' for a single Pound from any of many places around a year ago.
That price does shipping and Haz-mat fee.

Hazmat is brutal unless one is ordering enough pounds or primers to spread it out. My BP orders have been ride along with a larger order of a couple of 8# jugs. So a $28 Hazmat fee split with 10# of powder adds $2.80 per pound. Not bad but if one was ordering only 5 pounds that would be adding $5.60 per pound.
Best if you can find a BP club that does bulk orders or team up with a fellow reloader or even two. The shops will ship 50 pounds of powder which makes the hazmat bite of 56 cents a pound much less of an issue.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

You obviously live on the wrong side of the world for the particular (or maybe I should say "peculiar") hobby you have. Though I've been watching it get worse here for the past 50+ years. All I can say is enjoy it while you can! Further, deponent sayeth not.
I fired my first black powder shots in 1987, as my father offered me a Remington 58 for my 12th birthday. Five years later I entered the national team as a pistol shooter. Long story short, I've fired a good bunch of powder... As I remember, Swiss powder cost around 30 euros / Kg, and I didn't pay much attention to it, I didn't need much for my pistols...
Now I've changed tack, for shooting and hunting with my big bore rifles, I need pounds and pounds... and with three kids I care more.
This is another issue due to EU. They demanded dealers to equip with huge vault and expensive alarm systems, for powders that you used to find anywhere in the 80's... So in the end I have to pay.
My guns, my ole truck, my way of life... everything I like EU disapproves.
Am glad I kept stocking up at lower prices ... Swiss, kIK, Goex and a hardware store close out of powder ... Meteor at $2.35 a pound. Made in Ardeer Scotland and is a Curtis & Harvey clone or left overs when Noble bought C&H
