    Identify this bullet

I bought these PC bullets at a gun show a few years ago and forgot I had them. They weigh 145 grains and I’m looking to load for 38 Special. Only cast book I have is the Lyman pistol and revolver 3rd edition.
Hoping someone can identify it and possibly to some load data.

I only have a Second Edition of that Lyman book and a Speer #10 which I know that bullet is not a Speer. I cannot think of any commercial casters that offer a 145gr coated .35X" bullet. Looks like it would be a very interesting load for the 38Spl!

That’s what I was thinking. I bought a couple hundred of them at a gun show from a guy who does CAS and he cast and powder coated them. I’m sure I asked when I bought them what bullet it was but that has long since left my gray matter.
Going to go with either Bullseye or Unique.

It looks like a Saeco #358, but unless it's a HP the weight is way off.

With bullseye in 38 spcl isn’t 3.4g almost always a good answer? Obviously start low and work up.

I shoot the Lee 150 gr RN...147 gr from my alloy after PC...over 3.3 gr. 700X for my practice/plinker load. Same POI as 'standard velocity' factory loads from both my wife's 4" Diamondback and my 3" SP-101.

Magma Engineering has a bullet mold that is very similar. Could that be it?

I have an old Ideal mold that drops @ 147 grains, Very similar to your pic. The numbers on the mold are 360271-s. Hope that helps.

That looks like an Acme Bullet offering. (To me)

Thanks to all. I’m going to work up loads with Bullseye and Unique to see what works better. Only problem is there are no ranges open during this Chinese virus.

After you get a chance don't forget to post a range report!

I would use data for the Lyman 35891. It’s a button nose wadcutter at 148gr. It has a crimp groove and is not a flush seated wadcutter. Weight is almost the same. I use this data for the 150gr 358477 SWC when I load it in 38 special.

I decided to go with 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 grains of Bullseye and Unique. Will test these as soon as the chinese virus lets the ranges open up and see how they work. Thanks for all the help.

I wouldn't go less than 4.5 of Unique with that bullet as it will be dirty and smokey.
