Replacement screw for a Redfield site question

I have a Winchester Model 54 30-06, that has a Redfield peep site mounted to it. The elevation reference plate on the side of the site is held on with a pan head machine screw, that I think is a number 4. Does anyone know for certain and where I might find such a screw? Half of the head has broken off of this screw - not sure why or how, as it was fine when I put it in the safe and broken when it came out. The elevation reference plate stabilizes the site in the mount, so I need to replace it.

    .

I would carefully remove the screw and take it to either a good hardware store (where they may be able to match it up) or a machinist/gunsmith (who may have a match in their scrounge box).

If the above doesn't work, find the exact size & thread pattern.
    Brownell's will have 'em.

OK, as soon as we get the all clear to get out and about again, my plan is to run by the Ace store first. If no joy, then will try my local gunsmith. I scrounged through all my various boxes of gun sites, etc but was unable to find a matching screw in all of it.

Trust me, NOBODY on E-Bay has one (or more) of those screws for sale, except attached to a sight @ the commensurate much higher cost.

That does indeed look like the screw I need. As soon as the shelter in place order is done, I will swing by the local Ace to see if they have anything that would work. Otherwise a screwpack may be needed.

First off is to find what the thread is redfield used some odd ball threads in the sights. dia, pitch and length. Then you can search for it. You might try Champions shooters supply, Champions choice, and other older target supply shops.
A hobby machinist could take a bigger button head cap screw and turn thread down and recut to what you need

Just as a follow up - i determined that the thread size is 4-48. So I ordered a handful of 4-48 screws off of ebay and also found a 4-48 screw at the hardware store in the town where our cabin is. So, today I cut a screw to length and put it all back together. The rifle will get shot soon, likely Friday if everything works out.

    Thanks for all who responded.
