    Hornady LnL Powder dispenser

While operating the LnL press I noticed the powder dispenser’s drum not rotating all the way to the top. The dispenser’s bushing had rotated and the brass was pushing the dispenser up, which caused several rounds to have no charge.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a permanent fix?

Thanks in advance for your input.

You need to adjust your dispenser farther down into the bushing connecting it to the LNL press. Screw it down farther until the drum rotates to the top when you raise brass into it fully. Simple adjustment.
Make no mistake -- They will remember how easily you surrendered your rights.

Yeah, that happened a couple times before I took a pair of channel locks and turned that bushing tight, all the way with a little more force than the bare hand does...

Thank you for your input. I found the o-ring had been flattened enough so that it wasn’t keeping enough pressure on the bushing to keep it locked in place.

Has anyone devised a more permanent solution?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I prefer the hornady powder dispenser over the dillon due to its more repeatable powder throws but like everything hornady, it takes fiddling with constantly to keep it running right.

I've had the same issues. The hornady does take a bit of adjusting. As far as the lock ring I used a pair of channel locks and made sure it was snugged down good, it has never came loose since.

I haven't had problems with the Hornady dispenser itself since I learned to keep the linkages tight. I keep the sliding parts lubed with dry graphite powder.
As far as accuracy of the throws, you have to keep in mind that the different size metering holes in the various throws respond differently to various size powders, most work well with the fine ball types and flake but only a few work well with extruded.
Knowing this, I have used many other throws on my LnL and found repeatability much better.
Even the cheepo Lee throws have their advantages...

Something I really like about the LnL is that there is plenty of room to set it up as you like, it's not cramped for space like some other types and it is really quick to change dies out without loosing any adjustments.

Here I needed to process, de-cap lots of cases for the tumbler and the LnL becomes a de-capping machine that is really fast to use...

There are the dies that came out on the left and they will re-install in about a minute.
You have a really fine press, I hope you can learn to work it for all it's worth.

If you contact Hornady they will send you shims for free that will stop the bushing from turning.

I 'recycle' my old standard die lock rings, or take the 'O' ring off.

I've left the 'O' rings on the powder adjuster, and seater dies for now,
but they are on 'Double secret probation'.

I have installed the Ez-Dial on my Dillon powder measures and they are very repeatable. I can swap powders, go to the correct setting on the Ez-Dial and always be within .1 gr of what I want.

here is what I did no more powder measure wiggling loose, no more shim, more precise full length resizing

these are Redding bushing, machined them round so the fit in the recess of the press and great

Sorta makes a fellow think maybe "quick-change bushing" thingies aren't the gold ring answer to reloading doesn't it?
