    WTB .30-40 Brass

Looking for .30-40 brass for a friend who just picked up a sweet Krag-Jorgensen rifle. If you have any to spare please PM with quantity and price.

    Thanks!

    John

Graf and Sons has 30-40 listed as available:

You can resize Brit 303 to 30-40 works just fine

Yes; this is a solution I have used several times. There are two potential issues with this

    (a) .303 British can be as difficult to find at times as is 30-40 Krag Brass.
    (b) The neck of a resized/fireformed .303 Brass case to 30-40 will be shorter than the 30-40 Krag neck is. You have to check and as needed modify your load to address the shorter neck and tension on the bullet.

I have a Krag, & most of a box of loaded .303. Could it be fired in the Krag, or do I need to break it down?

fiberoptik 303 Brit will not fit in a krag , bullet is to big shoulders in wrong place break it down , run brass into a Krag die , load with proper sized slug and fire form . Do not try to shoot 303 in a 30-40, 303 is .311 dia 30-40 is .308 , the neck will be a bit short but if you load to your rifles correct length it will work just fine . I am feeding 5 different krags with reformed 303 and 30-40 brass , I can not tell the difference in which brass is used.

The 30-40 headspaces on the rim not the neck. You can also size brass so the neck also fits the chamber and I always do this in mine .

I have 76 rounds assorted Krag brass some old some newer. I fired them in my krags. 45$ shipped priority mail. Check or money order OK.

Looks like Western WRA and Super X headstamp.
