Very nice ,sir. I've settled on 14 gr. 2400 with the H&G #51. Works well on the Ruger SS and the Rossi 92.

A good mate to that would be the .45 Colt/ .45 A.C.P. model. Cover 5 cartridges in two weapons.

I like the same load, 13.5 gr of 2400, with Lyman's 358156GC in Magnum cases.

Sized 0.358" for the Rugers and Smiths, and 0.360" for the Marlin, that bullet gives me 1-1/2" gps at 25 yds from the short guns, and the same at 100 yds with the Marlin, (with visually inspected bullets, tho not weighed). The Mihec equivalent bullet does as well, MP360156 as I recall.

It's my standard .357 Magnum load and gives me a chrono'd 1150 fps from a 4" Smith M66 & M19. I've not chrono'd the Marlin, but suspect it's over 1550 fps. I've found it comfortable in the 4" K frames and Ruger BH's, and even more so in an N frame M27. My M60 with a 3" bbl., however is a handful and then some with it. It's a J frame but with good Hogue combat uni-grips installed and still kicks like a mule.

I've killed a cpl deer with that bullet; both with a 3" bbl'd Smith M60 that I was carrying while helping a neighbor track down a wounded buck in one case and a doe in the 2nd. Both were neck shots from ~20 yds and gave complete penetration while clipping the spine.

I have loaded the 358156 ahead of 13.5 grains of 2400 in 38 Special cases. Used the lower crimp groove to give a little more capacity. Great load for the 38/44 Heavy Duty.

I've settled on 13.0 grains. I load a PB 358156 that we ran as a group buy a few years back.

I realize this is more of a .38-44 load, but I have a K frame .357 and I want it to last forever, which it likely will pushing 158s at @ 1150-1200 fps.

I think the manuals go up to around 14.5 or 15 grains, but I just don't need that. I have a .44 magnum (which, incidentally I do the same thing with. A 250 Keith at 1200 fps will do more than anything I need, and if not, well, I have a .30-06...)

My Lyman 358156 of 16-1 alloy fully dressed with BAC lube and Hornady GCs weight 162 gr. Loaded over 14.0 gr Alliant 2400 in W-W cases with WSP primers they push 34 - 35,000 psi (measured with Oehler M43 PBL) depending on lot of powder. They run 1340 fps (muzzle) out of my Ruger SS with 6" barrel. Loading 14.5 or more gr gets a little "dicey"......
