Hello ndnchf,
I think you would be better off boring a hole into a chunk of scrap to find out what diameter it is. Start at .430" and see if your slug will go in, keep enlarging until you get a slip fit.

That's another way to do it, but I don't have a set if .001" increments drill bits or reamers. But I'm confident in my measurrments.
I finished a complete teardown, clean/inspect/lube job. It's all back together. I installed a centerfire breech block, then took it out and test fired it with the case I made yesterday. It went bang Uh, oh - maybe I should start a new thread in Single Shots
So far so good. I've ordered some 44 Ballard/Wesson XL brass from BACO and some bullets to try.
Since I changed it over to centerfire, I'm continuing this discussion over in the single shot forum.

Found some .44 Ballard Long for you, hope you're rich: https://www.rccbrass.com/shop/page/39/
It's all your fault anyway. I've been following your threads on the RRB conversion, thought maybe I could afford one, but nope. So I looked at Stevens Favorites. I have my dad's old .22, which is thoroughly shot out and amateur gunsmithed about to death by him, but is also the rifle I learned to shoot on. He didn't want anyone fixing it, so I'm honoring that, but I did manage to find a couple of .32rf's here, so I've been looking at converting the "new" ones to centerfire. One's .32 long, the other .32 short. Looks like I can get .32 long colt brass from Buffalo for $0.89/each in quantities of one, or $4-something each from RCC. RCC brass is made to spec, apparently, and headstamped as such. A few wouldn't break the bank, and would let me see what fits properly before I go modifying brass. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for detailing your work, and asking questions. I've found it immensely interesting!
Glad you found it interesting, and perhaps inspiring . Check seller "Tenmile" on gunbroker. Its Jack Harrison. He sells 32 colt that he forms from 32 S&W and heel bullets. They are good and reasonable.
