358 in 9mm

Hi everyone.
like most, I have plenty of time to reload
last week I got the mold that I am using now, MP 359-135 NLG, my first mp,
PC with polyester powder paint
I have two possibilities Read sizing die 356 and 358, it is to use in my G17 which slug in .3555
I was planning to test the 358 boolits with light loads, 4grains out of 231


Will it be a lot of diameter to use 358?

If we go with the .001” to .002” oversized theory. Then .357” would be about right. I have sanded out a few Lee sizers. A dowel, a bit of masking tape and a piece of 600 grit make quick work of it.

P.s. I have run .0025” oversized without issue.

P.s.s. Make sure they pass the “Plunk” test.

Use your barrel as a gauge to check the rounds. If .358 boolits will "plunk" in your barrel and feed from the magazine you are good to go. I size all my 9mm to .358.

I size all of my 9mm to .358 as well. Though some of my pistols weren’t able to feed it. I just had the barrel throated instead of seating deeper

Load up some dummy rounds and try them to sees if they will chamber correctly and cycle in your particular pistol. All depends on your chamber and the plunk test will also tell you. I have had 9mm pistols where 358 work just fine - others only 357 would work.

Plunk test and cycle correctly. Ask if is possible, More than anything, I was afraid it would raise the pressure a lot ...

Unless your alloy is very hard, you can scratch the boolit with your fingernail. The extra thousandth or two will not raise the pressure and significant amount.
