    My experience with Accurate Molds.

I started a thread on another site to ask for help in picking out an Accurate Mold mold for my 45-70. To make a long story short, on Tuesday, March 24 I went on their website and ordered the brass mold I wanted. I was flabbergasted when the mold arrived in my mailbox on Friday, March 27 while I was out on my porch smelting down lead. Upon opening the box and examining the mold, it was obviously a quality piece. Attention to detail was obvious when I noticed vent lines on the top of the mold under the sprue plate. I have been a fan of brass molds for at least 10 years, having bought about a dozen of Miha's fine Slovenian molds. I just love to cast hollowpoint pistol bullets. However, I fail to see the need for a hollowpoint bullet when talking about such a robust rifle round as the 45-70. A couple of weeks ago, I bought an MP Mold that casts a 405gr bullet for the 45-70 and will cast hollowpoints as well, but I doubt I will ever cast anything but solids with it. I wanted a second mold that would cast something lighter (about 350gr) but Miha didn't have one, hence my turning to Accurate. So, mold in hand, down into the basement for a casting session. I preheated the mold like I always do, but I was getting a lot of wrinkly bullets. I stopped and preheated the mold some more. Finally, I started getting some good bullets. As I thought about it, Accurate's mold is slightly larger than Miha's mold, and I had ordered a 2 cavity mold whereas I normally get 4 cavity molds from Miha. Simply more mass involved and preheating takes longer. Right off the bat I'm impressed at how many of the bullets are dropping on their own, and of the one's that don't, only a slight tap of the mold handle in needed. One other thing that I like is my Accurate mold has no trough between the 2 sprue plate holes. I am really impressed with the quality of this mold. While I will continue to buy MP Molds for handgun bullets due to their ability to cast hollowpoints, any rifle bullet molds from here on out will be made by Accurate Molds. Thanks for listening.

I have a number of Tom's molds and everyone of them is a quality piece of work. They are my favorite molds to work with and drop perfect bullets every time. I highly recommend Accurate Molds every opportunity I get as they are, in my opinion, the best that money can buy.

I have more molds from Accurate than any other maker. Great company to deal with. I received just this week a new .41 Magnum mold.

No need to order foreign products when American products are superlative for less $ and wait times are days not weeks.

Can only agree. It's rare I buy anything else.

Just as soon as an American maker starts making brass moulds that makes hollowpoint bullets using the Cramer method, I will do so. Until then, Miha gets my business.

I have a few of Tom's molds and my experience is the same as everyone else. About 5 days from ordering to receiving and its a quality mold. I like the optional trough in the sprue cutter, but thats mostly personal preference.

Just to elaborate, this is what Tom's molds produce: Left-to-right 31-185S, 36-310P (38-55 paper patch) and 44-500P (45-70 paper patch).

I probably have close to a dozen of Toms molds (Accurate Molds) for 4-5 different calibers . They all are " top rail " at least in my book . I also am a real fan of LBT Molds as I have numerous molds from him . His LFN design will definitely reach out there , way out there accurately if needed . I will also recommend Veral's book (LBT Molds) , " Jacketed Performance with Cast Bullets " for anyone wanting to use case bullets in their handgun or rifle . I have never purchased a mold from a foreign source . Those 2 mold makers have covered all my needs . Regards, Paul

They are great molds and he ships faster than expected. I only wish he could do spire point type molds. I don’t know anything about mold making but he told me he doesn’t have the rounded cutter for it. Likely not a big difference in accuracy but I like the shape in some cartridges.

Tom at Accurate mold has provided me with a service IMHO believe no other mold maker provides:
    * I send Tom bullets from 'rare' Ideal & Hoch molds and he cuts the duplicates and they are to me usually within a week or a tad more
    * He will also modify the dimension of any mold in the most extensive inventory of any maker has and you'll receive the mold in a very short time frame.
    * His mold prices are Excellent compared to other mold makers
    * It would be great if Tom updated his CNC software to produce round nose bullets instead of just 1/8" or greater metplats ... Wishful Thinking
    Regards
    John

Well, on the strength of all the above positive posts, I just completed an order for a mold. I sure hope it goes as well for me as it has for you folks..

Tom does have something special. It’s fun tweaking a design and making it your own. I especially like a combo mold.
