    Stain conditioner

have a project in the works. Cut down #4 MKI* the one with the slot by the breech so's you can lift up the bolt head for removal. Will be giving the wood either the trisodium Phospate treatment or the acetone treatment with whiting. Has anyone used a stain conditioner?, what it's supposed to do is condition the wood so it will allow the stain to penetrate more deeply and evenly. The forend is supposed to be an Indian (Ishy screw in the forend so possibility of Indian manufacture) rosewood. The forend is supposed to be walnut but I just scraped the stock and does not resemble any walnut I ever saw. Neither piece of wood has any treatment as yet. Just trying to have a game plan if things don;t work out. Thanks,Frank may also known as wood conditioner and does something to the wood so it will readily accept stain evenly. Frank
