500 JRH BFR Questions

Can a 500 JRH BFR shoot S&W 500 SPECIAL? The brass is a lot more affordable than Buffalo Bore's exclusive JRH brass and there's no hassle of cutting down S&W 500 brass.

How much would the slightly smaller case volume restrict potential loads?

I doubt you will notice the difference... My bet would be the 500 JHR is trademarked so CorBon shortened the case by 0.13" and called it the 500 Special to avoid paying copyright fees....

Good morning
We have a 475BFR and shoot the 480 Ruger brass (shorter) with no issues. Just remember if you do so to check the cylinders for carbon / lead before loading the longer brass.
Hard to see any accuracy loss. Plus for "non-full blast loads" the shorter brass will deliver those under 90% power loads with less powder.
