    Lyman 141gr WC undersize?

Recently purchased this mold used and finally had a chance to cast some from it. It drops really pretty Boolits but that are all undersize! Measured about 20 of these and they are all at .355/.356". Then tried to pass them thru my .358" Lee sizer and did see a slight shininess to the driving bands. They all passed thru very easily.

Not sure what to do next?

That thought had entered my head and I did have an intention of trying that process at a future date. So looks like that date may be sooner than later! Does the Hi-Tek coating add as much material as the powder coat?

Errr, you didn't state what mould you had or the No of cavities.

Is it a DEWC bevel based? If so, it was made for the Smith & Wesson Model 52.

If true, trade or sell it to getvwhat you want. In fact, l might have just that for you.

This is a Lyman 358495 2 cavity 141gr. WC.. I cast just over 100 the other day and they are dropping at .355/.356" dia...

Martin Luber what do you have? I just received a S&W Model 64 from my brother that is giving them up because of medical reasons. I don't really shoot it much but I did already have the reloading dies.

Don't have any Bullseye but I do have AA#2.
For now all the ranges in this area are shut down so this will be in a holding pattern for a time. Blows hot air because I have 4 other 45acp cast loads waiting to test.

Hi-Tek adds less diameter than powder coating, although I must qualify that statement by saying that I have far less experience with Hi-Tek.

I looked up that mould, it isn't the dewc model 52 mould sorry.

It could be either an alloy or temperature issue in casting. Too hot may lead to shrinking as will using pure lead which shrinks on cooling. Give that a try first. Do you know the melt temperature? If not a thermometer would help. You can get the free in a junk bbq grill.
