I bought a 2 cavity Lyman 429421 off eBay. It was my first mold. It has a seriously rounded corner (on the mold) on one of cavities. This leaves a “skirt” on the bullet from that cavity and some smear on the mold when cutting the sprue. But the bullets seem to clean up OK in the .430 Lee sizer. I like the bullet. It casts about 253 gn with wheel weights. It is otherwise easier to use than my newer Lyman mold for .357.
Is this normal wear? I do not understand what caused this wear - lead is softer than steel. Second, should I just use one good cavity or clean up on both sizing?
Thanks for any info.
