    byf 43.

Trying to figure out a stamped mark and origin of manufacture. Saw this on a P-38 and was wondering where and when (I'm guessing 1943) it was made.

byf was the German secret code for the Mauser factory in Oberndorf, Germany. The number, of course, is the year of manufacture.
