Got a smaller one there just for comparing. That was a great bucket not much zinc or steel in it.
Oh great, another thread that makes me spend money.

Older tires needed the heavier ones more than new tires,
they weren't assembled/made as evenly when they went into the cooker.

Years ago, a buddy dropped off some from the city bus garage.
I'd never seen ones for the real big tires on a bus before, and at a glance, I thought someone had spray painted some bananas gray.

Sadly, I never got more than a handful to a third of a bucket full of those sizes. Bus & truck tire sizes were commonly re-used to save $$$. uncle mike

Two years ago my local scrap yard had about 200 lbs of those large bus/truck COWW's that I bought. One of the nice things about them is the lead-to-clip ratio is really high.

Thats a nice score! I'll occasionally get a few. I think my largest one was 14oz.

The recycling yards are the best source for lead. Last visit, about 3 yrs ago ... 286 lbs of sheet lead at 60 cents per. Have no need for visits any more - inventory is over 1700 lbs

I had 2 five gallon buckets of semi tire weights back in the 80s. Long gone now.

A friend's dad was a mechanic for a long ago gone truck line. He would bring me big coffee cans full of these things that kept both of us shooting
for a while. That was way back in the 70's.

I just wish I had known at the time about mixing 50/50 to stretch those ww out a bit further..

sheet lead is my favorite, easiest and cleanest lead to work with. having friends in the construction/demolition business that works with medical buildings is the best!

This is the largest I have found to date, can't get myself to melt it. Might just mount it on the wall.

Sorry for the sideway post, can't seem to rotate this one.

Yeah. That's how you know you're approaching 'geezerdom'.
You have stuff here and there, and nobody else knows what it is.

Up until the tire store across from work sold out I would trade doughnuts for 5 gallon buckets of truck weights just like them. I am still using the lead from their.
